African Labour Law Society Conference 2018
REPORT ON THE 2nd AFRICAN LABOUR LAW SOCIETY CONFERENCE
The 2nd African Labour Law Society (ALLS) conference was held at Century City conference centre and hotel, Cape Town, South Africa, on the 6th September 2018. The Conference was held the day before the South African Society for Labour Law’s 21st Annual event. The operations were managed by the Secretariat of African Labour Law Society and onsite by the chapter administrators of SASLAW.
The event was managed separately, with different registration portals, registration fees, delegate bags, name tags and sponsors.
The ALLS confirmed its Constitution during the AGM and 19 country representatives were confirmed during the proceedings.
The Management Committee and delegates who attended perceived the 2nd ALLS conference to be a huge success.
The programme was divided into 4 themes:
• Labour Dispute resolution
• Gender Discrimination and Harassment in the Workplace
• Informal Economy
Each theme started with a key note address, and then time was given to 2 or 3 speakers in each section from different jurisdictions on this topic.
